London Rocks!

London Rocks!

Capital cities are usually something special, and most of them are iconic and known the world over, but perhaps some are more well-known and well-regarded than others. Think about Washington DC and is history, Paris and its sophistication, Oslo and its nature, Rome and its historical buildings – you get the picture; every capital city is known for something.

What do you think of when you picture London in your mind’s eye?

Pomp and ceremony? Many people would say that, but London is a seriously hip and happening city, one which is musical, fashionable, sporting, and historic; oh, and if you love shopping, you’re going to faint when you see the sheer number of big named stores!

Getting around London can be a minefield if you have no idea where you’re going, what you’re doing, or how you’re going to get there, which is why you need to do your research ahead of time. The London Underground, or The Tube, is iconic and certainly something you should experience, but you need to know about lines and where you’re going before you attempt it!

For most forms of London transport you use something called an Oyster Card. This is a pre-paid card which you use to electronically gain access to underground stations, buses, and trains, taking the stress out of travel. If you want to live the life of a London celebrity however, why not considering hiring a limo to pick you up from the airport and transport you to your hotel, or perhaps take you around the major sights in the city? This is a fantastic treat for your time in the city, and you’ll certainly have some admiring glances aimed your way!

In terms of what to see and do in the city, you have a ridiculously large choice on your hands! If you love football, or soccer, be sure to head to a Premier League game, or check out whether there are any national matches going on at Wembley Stadium. Most large stadiums, such as Wembley, the Emirates, and Stamford Bridge, all have tours you can do out of match days too, which allow fans to head inside and get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes.

If you want to go down the old fashioned sightseeing route, how about heading to the London Eye and having a ride on the famous wheel? The Tower of London is a must do, Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard, Camden Market, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, a cruise down the River Thames – the list goes on!

Shopping is amazing in London, nightlife is vibrant and seriously hip, and you will also find a massive range of restaurants to choose from, varying from fast food eateries, to Michelin Star choices.

Put simply, London certainly rocks!
